John Travolta’s iconic white suit from Saturday Night Fever is expected to fetch up to $400,000 (£300,000) at an upcoming auction.
The instantly recognisable three-piece ensemble, famously worn by Travolta as Tony Manero in the 1977 dance-drama, will lead Propstore’s Summer Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction in Los Angeles next month.
Its appearance in the film’s pivotal disco competition scenes and numerous promotional images has cemented its cultural significance, with estimates for the sale ranging from $200,000 dollars to $400,000 (£150,000-£300,000).
The suit also bears a handwritten inscription from Travolta and was previously owned by film critic Gene Siskel.
It forms part of a four-day live sale featuring over 1,700 lots of film and television memorabilia, with a combined pre-sale estimate of $10 million (£7 million).
Other notable items in the sale include Frank the Rabbit’s (James Duval) costume from the 2001 film Donnie Darko.
Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, the costume from the cult classic is being offered at public auction for the first time after previously being exhibited at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures.

It is estimated to sell for between $100,000 and $200,000 (£75,000-£150,000).
The screen-matched opening scene mosquito in amber fossil from Jurassic Parkis also up for auction, with that item expected to reach the same price as the Donnie Darko costume.
Another highlight is an original Golden Snitch from Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone. It is set to sell for between $25,000 and $50,000 (£18,000-£37,000).

Other items included in the sale are Michael Keaton’s Batsuit from 1992’s Batman Returns, a stunt axe from The Shining and Tony Stark’s light-up Iron Man upper body armour from 2016’s Captain America: Civil War.

The auction will run from 26 to 29 August.
