Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves reunite

Pop quiz, hot shot.

Which two stars of the 1994 movie Speed just reunited backstage on Broadway? Of course, it's Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock.

It happened Dec. 20, when Bullock went to support Reeves at a performance of Waiting for Godot, which he is currently starring in with his Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure costar Alex Winter.

PEOPLE quoted a source as saying that Bullock was "gracious behind the scenes, congratulating the cast and crew following the performance."

The outlet's insider added, "She was incredibly sweet and kind to everyone she met. And watching her with Keanu, it felt like no time had passed at all."

The stars memorably reunited on film for the 2006 romantic drama The Lake House, in which the pair also played love interests.

Entertainment Weekly confirmed in May that the two were attached to a new project, a romantic thriller at Amazon MGM Studios.

Set to be written by Noah Oppenheim, known for his work on Jackie and The Maze Runner, the untitled film was set to be produced by Mark Gordon, who also worked on hits such as, yes, Speed, but also The Patriot and Saving Private Ryan.

Bullock, Reeves, and Oppenheim, as well as Bibby Dunn, and Sarah Bremner, were set to produce.

Speed was a big hit, earning a cool $350 million at the global box office, with a budget of only about $30 million. The directorial debut of Jan de Bont, the movie ensured that Reeves, already known for Point Break, was seen as an action star, and Bullock, who was just breaking through, earned more work.

Bullock actually returned to the franchise for 1997's sequel, Speed 2: Cruise Control, but her leading man was Jason Patric, not Reeves. And it wasn't well received, standing at 4 percent based on 76 reviews at Rotten Tomatoes even today. Eesh.

In fact, Bullock has stated that it's a career move she wishes she wouldn't have made.

"I have one that no one came around to, and I'm still embarrassed that I was in, it's called Speed 2, and I'm very vocal about it," the Hope Floats star told Too Fab in March 2022. "Makes no sense: slow boat, slowly going towards an island. That's one that I wished I hadn't done."
