She called the discovery a "real eye-opener"

Kristin Cavallari doesn’t want to be too honest for the sake of her children.

The 39-year-old former reality star and Let’s Be Honest podcast host had a candid discussion about censoring herself with fellow podcast host Rachel Bilson on Tuesday, Jan. 20.

Cavallari, who is mom to sons Camden, 13, and Jaxon, 11, and daughter Saylor, 10, with ex-husband Jay Cutler, said she goes “through phases” of watching what she says on her podcast.

“I'll definitely pull back, and I feel like I've found this way to kind of say stuff without just saying it,” Cavallari explained.

However, one exchange with her sons had Cavallari second-guessing her willingness to discuss one particular topic publicly.

“So this is actually the one thing that made me be like, ‘Whoa, I need to watch what I'm saying,' ” Cavallari shared, referencing her middle school-aged sons. “They told me recently that like a year ago or something when I was dating that younger guy, that their friends said they saw he and I played a drinking game or something on the podcast, and they saw some of the sexual stuff that we were talking about.”

She added that it was the fact that her sons’ friends were the ones to see it made her the most concerned.

“And I was like, ‘Whoa,' that made me really pause,” she said. “I need to start being careful because it's really, I don't care at the end of the day what Jax and Camden think about me. It’s my kids. But I can’t be saying stuff that’s gonna affect them and their friends.”

Cavallari called the experience a “real eye-opener.”

The “younger guy” Cavallari referenced was TikToker Mark Estes, who was 13 years her junior. The pair dated for seven months in 2024. During a Sept. 2024 appearance on the Let’s Be Honest podcast, the then-couple played a drinking game where they discussed a variety of topics, including whether either one had “faked an orgasm” during sex.

Speaking with Bilson, 44, on her podcast about her relationship with Estes, now 25, Cavallari said, “It was fun until it wasn’t.”

Cavallari previously shared her reason for the split with Estes.

“I broke up with Mark because I just know long term it’s not right,” she said on an Oct. 2024 podcast episode. “It’s not because of love lost or something bad happened, no one cheated, no one was mean. No one did anything. Those breakups are always the hardest, I think.”
