Former Cy Young Award winner Trevor Bauer is back playing baseball in the U.S., four years after four women accused the pitcher of sexual assault, allegations he has denied.Bauer, 35, has signed with the Long Island Ducks, an independent Atlantic League minor league team, the team announced on Thursday, April 2.“We are excited to welcome Trevor to Long Island,” Ducks president/CBO Michael Pfaff said in a statement. “His talent and knowledge will be important additions to our ballclub, and we are happy to offer him this opportunity to showcase his talents to MLB clubs while giving fans unprecedented access to Ducks baseball.”
When Bauer makes his debut with the Ducks — he is projected to be the Opening Day starter on April 21 — it will mark the first time he has pitched stateside since June 2021.

The former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher was suspended by the MLB after a San Diego woman accused him of sexual assault. Two other women also made allegations, The Washington Post reported that summer. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office did not press charges against Bauer but MLB suspended him for violating its joint domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse policy.A fourth woman filed a lawsuit against the pitcher in Arizona in June 2023, and alleged she was “violently sexually assaulted."
Bauer has denied any wrongdoing.The California native pitched in Japan for the Yokohama DeNA BayStars, where he was 4-10 with a 4.41 ERA, in 2025. He also played for the BayStars in 2023 and went 11-4 with a 2.59 ERA in 24 starts, according to The Athletic.The Ducks have a past of facilitating MLB comebacks including those of retired pitchers Dontrelle Willis and Eric Gagné.
