Washington DC weather: What can you expect after Sunday's rain?
Saturday's balmy temperatures in the Washington DC area were short lived, as Sunday's rain showers gave way to colder temperatures to begin the work week.

What is the weather in the Washington DC area this week?
Residents around DC were greeted Monday morning with temperatures in the 40s, a far cry from Saturday's highs that reached the high 80s.
Expect more of the same as the week continues, as the National Weather Service forecasts "cool temperatures to start" the week before it warms up by the weekend.
Temperatures will climb to the mid 60s Thursday, and by the weekend, it will be sunny and in the 70s, according to FOX 5.
"High pressure will progress offshore for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday," the National Weather Service said. "As winds turn southeasterly in response, a warming trend in temperatures is expected through the end of the week."

The coldest part of the week will be Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, according to NBC Washington, which expects a possible freeze.
AccuWeather says Tuesday night's projected low of 31 degrees is near date's the record low of 29 set in 2007.
Will there be hazardous weather this week in DC?
NWS does not have any hazardous weather in its forecast this week but said there is a "small chance for a shower on Saturday."
"Expect lots of sunshine this week, so you can put the umbrella away," NBC Washington said.
Are the cherry blossoms still blooming in DC?
The iconic cherry blossoms in DC reached peak bloom March 26, and CherryBlossomWatch.com says they are now done for the spring.
"The main cherry blossoms are done," the site said during the weekend. "It’s still possible to find some stubborn petals still clinging to trees, but even those won’t last long with the warmth and breeze into the weekend."
