A royal broadcaster claimed Kate Middleton was told she was “marrying into the wrong family.” The remark came after the Princess of Wales admitted she wasn’t fond of horses — a favorite royal family pastime. He further noted that only Queen Camilla was interested in equestrian pursuits, but not Princess Diana and Meghan Markle.

Expert reveals Kate Middleton was warned before marrying Prince William

Seasoned royal broadcaster Simon Vigar spoke to GB News about the royal women and their interest in horses. The conversation comes ahead of the release of his book, The Four Wives of Windsor: The Inside Story of the Power Behind the Crown.

He said, “[Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton] have married into the wrong family. I forgot to put this anecdote in, but early on somebody at a polo match found Catherine all on her own in a marquee somewhere, or hiding around the back, and she said that she wasn’t that into horses.”

Vigar then shared an instance from the college years of Prince William and Middleton‘s relationship when a person asked the latter whether she was really marrying into the right family. Despite her disinterest in this pastime, the Princess of Wales fulfills her royal responsibilities by attending horse events.

Noting that only one royal woman holds equestrian interest, Viger added, “I don’t think Diana was into horses that much, and I’m pretty sure Meghan isn’t. So yeah, Camilla’s the only one who got that right!” In his new book too, Viger noted that as Queen Camilla was keen about horses, it was comparatively easier for her to get along with the Windsors.

William and Middleton married in 2011 at Westminster Abbey in London. A year before, the future king proposed to Middleton in a cabin hut on the side of Mount Kenya in Africa. According to a royal biographer, King Charles was “irritated” by William’s proposal to Middleton because he used the same 12-carat Ceylon sapphire and diamond ring from Garrard’s 1981 catalog that the monarch had given Diana upon their engagement. But eventually, his irritation turned to happy wishes for the couple.
